Although the city boasts a strip of luxury casinos that offers world-class entertainment and extravagant lifestyle, Las Vegas currently has 14% unemployment rate, much higher than the national average of 9%. Nevertheless, dubbed as "Sin City" thousands of people come to Las Vegas for the for the gambling, drinking, rite of passage, parties, shopping, sex, entertainment, and family vacation. In Las Vegas, one could visit fabricated cities of Paris, New York, and Rome and is able to roll the dice with a possibility of hitting the jackpot. Why go to anywhere else?
Project Background:
A lie is a deliberate intent to deceive or an intentional untruth. A convincing lie is one that is well fabricated and taps into our desire and sense of hope. It is a notion that is false but accepted as truth and had become a status quo and ideals that dictate our lives. As one lie becomes accepted as tradition, other lies are used to sustain it and thus perpetuates a bigger web of lies. Most importantly, a convincing lie is one where collaboration exists to uphold the falsehood between the person who fabricated the lie and other party who is a willing participant.
This project is my personal exploration of many convincing lies such as fame, beauty, identity, wealth, success, happiness, security, and freedom that I think we've been accustomed to in our society to maintain ideals that benefits a few with power, influence, and monetary gains at the expense of truth and control over our reasoning and actions.
